Hey! I'm a published author(go ahead an check out my page, I've got some info on my new book coming out! :D), and I've got some advice that always helps me.
Whenever I get writers block I simply try writing something new, exciting and COMPLETELY different than what I'm used to... My book "Twins" that is supposed to hit stores early March was a breeze, but now that I'm working on the second book it's been extraordinarily hard, both to keep my interest in the story and keep the storyline flowing; I constantly find myself getting the accursed writers block :). So instead of just trying to sit it out with my fingers crossed--hoping that my luck would find itself again--I rather started on a Greek mythology story about a man falling in love with one of the immortal (if you guys bug me enough I may just post it on here ;]). It's helped me bunches on writers block, I have encountered it since, and it's also given me a pretty d@mn good Greek fairy-tale to work with. Whenever I get bored or stuck on one I just start working on the other and it works like a charm.
As far as poems go.... Maybe try writing another style poem? If you write on nature, try picking something you're interested in... WWII, a certain acivity, romance, the possibilities are endless. I also recommend fiction to get your writing motor up-and-running :) Once I started writing Fantasy, I couldn't write anything else because of how intrigued I become with my own stories.
Hope this helps!
