The basics? My name is Rhiannon, I’m a 19-year-old Aussie chick aspiring to be a feline biologist. I want to save the world. You know, all those corny, philanthropic ideals. I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Science at The University of Melbourne, intent on majoring in Zoology and continuing along that path to fulfil my dream. I live with my mum, sister, her fiancé and a whole menagerie of animals.
The bigger picture?
First and foremost, the thing that people come to understand about me is that music is my life. It’s the thing I spend all my time and money on and the thing that brings me insane levels of joy. I love my bands more than they’ll ever know and will go to ridiculous efforts to ensure I’m as close as possible. The concept of lining up outside a venue for 12 or so hours is not only acceptable – it’s the norm. Hence, my life consists of a lot of waiting; waiting for a specific date, waiting on public transport, waiting all day in line, waiting for the stage hands to set up, waiting for the support bands to finish up. But the moments that follow, the memories, the following weeks of post-concert euphoria, make every second worth it.
But the thing that is most important to me is my friends and loved ones. Words cannot begin to express how much I love them, how much they mean to me. My friends are my world. I don’t know what I would do without them. They're everything I could have ever hoped for out of life. They make me laugh until I cry, yet they’re there to wipe away the tears if I need that, too. I'm very protective of them all, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them. They're the little beacons of light that give my world colour.
My passions are as diverse as my music taste. Animals have always been a big part of my life. I love their honesty, their intuition, and most of all their unconditional love. It takes a lot for an animal to trust you completely, even more for one whose trust has been abused by human stupidity – but once they do it is the most magical bond you will ever experience. I have been lucky enough to have this bond with many a special animal, but none more so than my cat Tiger, whom I love dearly. Sport is another great passion of mine, AFL in particular. My religion. Carlton. My boys. Dancing was another major thing in my life. I took jazz, tap and ballet classes for a little over 10 years. I’ve never been one for the stage, never loved the spotlight, and thus the end of year concerts have never been what it’s all about. No, I love the feeling of joy you get when you’re in class with your troupe, dancing your heart out to a favourite song and you know it looks good. It's simply fun.
My last major interest, I will try anything creative. Drawing, painting, sketching, icon making, hell, even cross-stitch. If it's remotely artistic I'll give it a go.
